Our take

Gumroad's pricing page says there is no monthly charge: 10% plus $0.50 on sales through your profile or a direct link, and 30% when a new customer buys through Discover. It also says that since January 1, 2025, Gumroad is the merchant of record and handles sales tax. That is a clean fit for a small digital product and an expensive fit if Discover is how strangers find you.

Best for: you want to sell a digital file or membership without a monthly store fee.

Pros

  • No monthly fee, so a product that sells rarely does not carry a subscription.
  • Both fees are printed: 10% plus $0.50 direct, and 30% via Discover.
  • Merchant-of-record tax handling is stated on the pricing page.

Cons

  • The 30% Discover fee is a real cut if you rely on their marketplace for demand.
  • You get a simple store, not a full usage-based SaaS billing stack.
  • The fee is on every sale, which a high-volume shop will feel.
